The
Old Farm Hotel in Mesnil-Val, Normandy, between Criel-sur-mer
and Le Tréport
Juste Two hours from Calais, two hours from Paris and
nestled in a pretty seaside village between Dieppe and Le
Tréport this rambling old Norman hotel is a gem of
a place !
Built in 1734, restored in 1922, it offers lovers of Seine-Maritime
and the Somme marvellous food and good accomodation just 300
metres from the beach. The surrounding countryside is one
of lush fields, forests and river valleys.
The spacious, rustic restaurant specialises in traditional,
local cuisine with fine wines and liquers. In the summer,
meals may be taken outside on the terrace. At the black of
the restaurant a beautiful, terraced garden leads up to the
four seperate houses which make up the hotel !
The surrounding area where seascape meets landscape will tempt
you with its local beaches, great white cliffs, sailing and
swimming facilities, the valleys of the Yères and Bresles
rivers and the ports of Le Tréport and Dieppe with
their fish and fruit and vegetable markets.
To the east the lovely Somme river estuary is famous for its
waer fowl and ornothological parks. St Valery sur Somme is
the village frome whence William the Conqueror set sail to
meet Harold at the Battle of Hastings and which has developed
into a lively tourist town whith steam train rides and excellent
restaurants.
Rouen and Paris are easy destinations for a day out !
